Acedemic Section – Short Seminars in Spine Surgery
This pattern of seminars is the newest addition to the academic activities of SSWB. In this format a topic related to spine is dealt with by a specialist who is not a spine surgeon but has a huge experience on that particular disorder on which he is going to speak. As like all others, this is also a didactive cum interactive session with case discussions at the end of the lecture.
Related specialists include Urologists, Oncologists, Rheumatologists, Neurologists, etc. All of them speak on a topic related to spine which is extremely relevant in day-to-day clinical practice in spine. These mini-symposiums clear endless doubts over various spine related disorders.
In the past, important topics like Spinal Metastasis, Urological problems in relation to Spine, and Electrophysiological aspects in spinal disorders have been covered. This interaction with an allied specialty makes this seminar unique. The multi-disciplinary approach to spine care cannot be over-emphasized in medical practice of today and the beneficiaries of this endeavor include the patient themselves other than professionals involved in spine care.

The society seeks active support from various health related corporate bodies and organizations to sponsor - Short Seminars in Spine Usually, 4 to 6 in a year – with one non-spine specialist invited to talk on a topic related to spine with interactive case discussions
They can apply online/offline and the selection would be solely at the discretion of the executive committee of SSWB.
